About this tool

Copying and pasting from a PDF into Obsidian drags along mid-sentence line breaks, stray page numbers and repeated headers. The result is awkward to read and worse to search.

Obsidian stores notes as plain Markdown files, so the result can be dropped straight into your vault and is indexed and linkable from the start.

Questions

Does it keep the PDF's images?
No: the output is text. For pages as images use the "PDF to image" tool.
What if the PDF is scanned?
Run the local OCR first: it recognizes the text on your machine and produces the same structured Markdown.
