About this tool

Anonymizing a PDF here means turning it into text and replacing each piece of personal data with a placeholder: [NOMBRE_1], [DOCUMENTO_1], [EMAIL_1]. The same value always gets the same placeholder, so the text still makes sense to a reader or an AI.

It all happens in your browser. The map linking each placeholder to the real value never leaves your device: with it you can put the data back into the answer the AI gives you.

It is rule-based anonymization, not perfect. It catches what has a format (IDs, tax numbers, emails, phones, dates, addresses) and names when they are labelled, such as “Patient:” or “Client:”. Always review the result.

How it works

  1. 01

    Drop the PDF.

  2. 02

Leave “Anonymize personal data” on and convert.

  3. 03

Review each highlighted item; switch anonymization off to compare.

  4. 04

Copy or download the text, and keep the map if you will restore the data.

Questions

Do I get a blacked-out PDF?
No, on purpose. The result is text (Markdown) with placeholders such as [NOMBRE_1] instead of the data. We do not do destructive redaction: nothing is destroyed, and with the map you can put the real data back into the AI's answer.
Does it catch every piece of personal data?
Not always. It works by rules: ID and tax numbers, emails, phones, dates, addresses and names when labelled. An oddly formatted value can slip through: review the result before sharing.
Is the PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. It opens in your browser's memory. Check it in the Network tab of the developer tools (F12): there are no uploads.
